Technical information on the wadding
We use 100% polyester wadding weighing 115 g/sqm in the body section and 60 g/sqm in the sleeves and hood.
The wadding is made from silicon-coated spiral fibres that make it highly compressible and highly durable.
Despite its low thickness, it has high insulation properties thanks to the air trapped inside, and remains lightweight.
Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)
The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it.
This prevents fabric from absorbing water, and keeps it lightweight and warm.
A fabric is made water-repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface.
Valuable advice for improving the durability of your down jacket!
It’s best to limit the number of washes of your padded ski jacket as each wash decreases its thermal properties.
How to repair your padded jacket if it has a tear?
A tear on a padded jacket can happen and the good news is it can be repaired! You can either mend it or apply a heat-bonded patch so that the tear doesn't get any bigger and the synthetic fibres escape.
Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Our in-store Decathlon workshops offer a repair service for your padded jackets.
How to dress to stay warm on the slopes?
To keep warm and dry, use the 3-breathable-layers rule: Layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry. Layer 2 or an insulating layer, to keep the heat in. Layer 3 or a protective layer, to protect against bad weather.
